About Amami Yagijima Hotel

A resort a cut above, on southern Amami Oshima

All 45 rooms have a balcony and command a sweeping ocean view. Watch the sea at leisure, and by night the lights of Naze. Because the hotel is the only building on Yagijima, the island becomes a private retreat. Feel the fresh sea breeze and follow the ferries crossing the bay — that is the time we offer at Amami Yagijima Hotel.

About Yagijima

About Yagijima

An island of emerald water and Amami’s own nature

Yagijima is surrounded by sea on all sides, yet it lies only about five minutes by car from central Naze — a resort far closer than it feels. From an all-ocean-view hotel, your stay on Amami begins.

The island floats in Naze Bay. There was once no bridge to it, and as only goats lived there, it came to be called Yagijima — Goat Island.

In 1968, a bridge was built at the same time as the original Yagijima Hotel, the predecessor of today’s hotel. The island became easy to reach and was reborn as a place islanders loved. Ask anyone from Amami and they will almost certainly have a memory of Yagijima.

In 2013 the hotel was rebuilt as Amami Yagijima Hotel, so that the island might keep giving islanders their memories while serving as a base for visitors — close to town, easy for sightseeing, and unmistakably a resort.
